Website or web application? Choose before you build
The two can look similar in a browser but solve very different business problems.
A business website explains, proves and converts. A web application lets a user do work. Confusing the two can create unnecessary cost or leave a valuable process trapped inside a brochure site.
Choose a website when the main job is communication
Typical goals include credibility, search visibility, lead generation, service explanation, case studies and contact conversion.
Choose an application when the user must perform a workflow
Examples include uploading documents, managing accounts, generating reports, tracking projects, approving actions or interacting with structured data.
Many businesses need both—but not on day one
A strong sequence is often: clear website first, validated customer demand second, operational application third. Build the application only when there is a workflow worth productizing.
